Spotlight: Doll #2- Skyler Smith
Christmas of 2014 I asked for yet another doll. I'd spent so much time combing over the American Girl catalog to figure out which doll I would ask for. I ultimately decided on Truly Me 25. I opened her up on the floor of my Nana's kitchen, right in front of her refrigerator, too excited to move anywhere else to open her. I freed her from her box and her brown eyes met mine and... she looked like a girl I went to school with who I wasn't the biggest fan of. It took me a bit to find a name for my ew doll because all I could see was the name of that girl I went to school with. I ended up naming her Skyler as I was obsessed with the color blue and any blue related names. Once she had a name, that was kind of it. She sat in my room on top a tower of grey storage bins, occasionally falling off, giving her scuff marks that made it even harder to connect with her.
