Spotlight: Doll #2- Skyler Smith

 Christmas of 2014 I asked for yet another doll. I'd spent so much time combing over the American Girl catalog to figure out which doll I would ask for. I ultimately decided on Truly Me 25. I opened her up on the floor of my Nana's kitchen, right in front of her refrigerator, too excited to move anywhere else to open her. I freed her from her box and her brown eyes met mine and... she looked like a girl I went to school with who I wasn't the biggest fan of. It took me a bit to find a name for my ew doll because all I could see was the name of that girl I went to school with. I ended up naming her Skyler as I was obsessed with the color blue and any blue related names. Once she had a name, that was kind of it. She sat in my room on top a tower of grey storage bins, occasionally falling off, giving her scuff marks that made it even harder to connect with her. Eventually i found AGtube and became enthralled with my dolls once again, my sister gave me one of her dolls that she wasn't connecting with and I finally had my doll spark back. Taking photos of my dolls, filming short videos of them, giving them personalities,  it was the start of how I interact with my dolls even now. Skyler still wasn't a huge part of my doll world till i sat with her for a while in 2019. I felt bad that she was excluded so i created a Pinterest board and a note on my computer and started sketching out ideas for her. She very quickly became my alternative, emo, music fan. Her favorite colors shifted from light blue to red and black. She broke the mold of what I thought my dolls could be. Her personality had parts of the real world integrated into it; real bands, real youtubers, real people. 

Skyler is extremely outspoken, she knows what she believes and will fight for it. She has a strong sense of justice and is very passionate. She hopes for a better future with her whole heart, and feels the hurt of when it seems the world is moving backwards.

Skyler is dating Aylin. They go on a hike every morning with their dog Pepper. Skyler identifies as a cisgender women and pansexual. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know about her!

Spotlight: Doll #32- Yasmine Williams

 The plan was to finish up these dolls intros before I added anymore new dolls to the collection, but that's not how it worked out. I asked for a AG outfit for my birthday, but didn't want to ask for a doll because I didn't want anyone spending that much money on me. But my Nana ended up giving me a 125 dollar AG gift card so I used it to get Makena. Her unboxing video is up on my youtube! All my links are on my Socials page here on the blog. Yasmine is a fashionista. She loves styling and posting her ootd. She hopes to become a fashion designer. She grew up a few houses down from Wren and Lark. Yasmine is loosely based off both the Makena character from AG and also one of my best friends growing up. Yasmine loves bright bold colors, lime green being her current fav. but her favorite color switches up often.  Yasmine is a cis woman and being my newest doll I haven't settled on what her sexuality is, I'm thinking pan maybe? Spotlight: Doll #31- Quinnie Blum

 I got Quinnie from my cousin for Christmas. She was one of her dolls and I was so happy to finally have a Marie-Grace doll! Quinnie is a huge true crime junkie. She loves learning about true crime and trying to help move unsolved cases along. She wants to be a forensic scientists. She grew up in New York in a small apartment with her dads, Amos and Daniel. She has Gastroesophageal reflux disease that caused scarring of her esophagus, which in turn caused a narrow esophagus. The narrow esophagus caused Esophageal dysphagia, she now eats her meals through a nasogastric tube. Quinnie is a cis woman and is currently questioning her sexuality. She has two dogs, Yarrow and Basil. She doesn't live in the BBD house. Any quinnie questions? Ask away!
