Doll Spotlight: Doll #8- Carson Ellicott

I won a TM 52 off ebay in May 2018, in June I officially had my first custom boy doll. Carson started out as my car enthusiast, hence his name. I guess he still is but not as much as I had originally planned.  His last name is after my hometown as when I was making his character we had a devastating flood come through, I felt like I had to name a doll after it. Carson is a gay cisgender man. He's only out to a select few in the household and his friend group; Logan, Kamden, Henri, Berlyn, Tenney, and Kailani. Carson struggles with anxiety, he's currently on anti anxiety meds to help. He's absolutely obsessed with halloween. When he first moved in he declared Logan his enemy as Logan's obsessed with Christmas and Carson believes Halloween in the superior holiday. It's all fun and games, the two love bickering back and forth. Carson has a bulldog named Meatloaf, who is his short, stocky, slobbery best friend. Let me know if you have any questions about him!

Doll Spotlight: Doll #7- Emmi Johnson

I got Emmi in January of 2018 at AGP DC. I went in thinking I was going to get TM 75, but I fell in love with TM 66 instead, so she came home with me. I brought Ivy with me to get Emmi and they've been besties since. Canonically they met at the park, bonded over a bug. Eventually Emmi decided to put in an application to move into the BBD house and with Ivy's good word, she was quickly accepted. Emmi is a trans woman, biromantic, and demisexual. She's my little entomologist, aka bug scientist. She particularly loves weevils and moths, but enjoys every bug. Emmi has a little white terrier named Coconut, along with an ever changing amount of bugs she's raising up. Emmi is dating Zabie. Let me know if you want to know anything else about her!

Doll Spotlight: Doll #6- Estella Crossland

I'm going to be honest, I don't remember getting Estella. I'm pretty sure she was an ebay purchase. Looking at my old blog I got her July 2017, meaning I got 5 dolls in the first 7 months of 2017 alone. I didn't realize I was out of dolls for 2 years, I thought it was only one. Anyways Estella is Logan's younger sister. See previous post to learn more about their family lore.  Estella is an asexual lesbian, she's dating Florence. Estella has a chocolate lab named Cocoa, and a white fluffy cat named Tulip. She's the artist of my dolls, canonically making all the artwork of the Blog By Doll house. Estella is a special doll, being my first disabled doll. She has stickler syndrome and lost the vision in her left eye due to multiple retinal detachments.  Let me know if yall want to know more about her!

Doll Spotlight: Doll #5 Logan Crossland

On the same trip to AGP DC towards the end I counted up what it would cost me to purchase the things I had and figured out that I had just enough left over for another doll. So of course since I got Tenney, I had to get Logan. Logan had technically been a character in my doll world for a bit before it leaked that AG was even maybe producing a boy doll. I can't remember when or even why he showed up, but his original name was Nick. Logan, and by association his family, was my first doll with lore. It's so deep and even magical that I've never shared it before. The Crossland's lore is so extensive that they have their own folder in my doll lore section. Long story short Logan's family is Santa Claus. Think "Arthur Christmas" in terms of how the Santa Claus name and job is passed down through generations. Very few are aware of this, obviously Logan and his sister Estella, also their significant others; Saige and Florence respectively, and Saige's sister ...

Spotlight: doll #4- Tenney Grant

For my birthday in 2017 I got to go to the American Girl Store in DC. I brought all the money I had been saving up from past birthdays and christmases. Tenney and Logan had just released and I was so excited. At the time I was very into western/cowboy/country vibes so Tenney was right up my alley. I went in the store knowing she was coming home with me. My mom, sister, and nana all went with me, this was my first trip to an AGP afterall! I had a blast, it was a magical day. My Nana bought me Tenney's accessories as a birthday present, along with her banjo. My mom got me her Spotlight Outfit, the white lace top with the pink sparkly shirt and silver glitter cowgirl boots. Tenney grew up in the foothills of the appalachian mountains in eastern Tennessee.  Her family owns a small dairy farm.  Her dad, Roy Grant, works as a ranch hand at the neighboring farms, while her mom, Francesca “Fran”, bakes pastries that she sells at the corner store down the road. Tenney, along with her t...

Spotlight: Doll #3- Ivy Lee

My third doll was originally my sister's second doll. She bought her the month after she got her first doll with money she'd gotten for Christmas. Around a year later my sister told me she "didn't like her bangs" so i asked if she would give the doll to me, and she did! So then Ivy officially became a part of my collection. During this time I was really fascinated with custom AG dolls, but didn't dare to do anything to Ivy, she was retired at this point. I ended up getting my 4th doll a little bit later and her and Ivy became best of friends. That 4th doll no longer exists, but canonically moved away.  Ivy was the reason I started my blog. We were camping in a state park in the mountains and my dad had just given me his old Canon Rebel DSLR, I was enamored with it. I posed Ivy in our campsite and made her hold a rock in her hand. In that moment she sprung to life; she was so interested and invested in this rock. I could see how curious she was. I knew in that...

Spotlight: Doll #2- Skyler Smith

Christmas of 2014 I asked for yet another doll. I'd spent so much time combing over the American Girl catalog to figure out which doll I would ask for. I ultimately decided on Truly Me 25. I opened her up on the floor of my Nana's kitchen, right in front of her refrigerator, too excited to move anywhere else to open her. I freed her from her box and her brown eyes met mine and... she looked like a girl I went to school with who I wasn't the biggest fan of. It took me a bit to find a name for my ew doll because all I could see was the name of that girl I went to school with. I ended up naming her Skyler as I was obsessed with the color blue and any blue related names. Once she had a name, that was kind of it. She sat in my room on top a tower of grey storage bins, occasionally falling off, giving her scuff marks that made it even harder to connect with her. Eventually i found AGtube and became enthralled with my dolls once again, my sister gave me one of her dolls that she ...

Spotlight: Doll #1- Saige Copeland

My very first doll I received for christmas in 2013 gifted to me by my Nana. This was the second year in a row that I had asked for a doll for christmas, the previous year I had asked for McKenna. This year I had asked for Saige and I got her. I was so excited. 5 out of the 7 cousins got an AG doll that year. I got Saige, my sister got Julie, one cousin got Josephina, one got Molly, and one waited for GOTY 2014 to be announced and ended up getting her. At first Saige didn't have a set personality, she just become whoever I needed in the moment. For my birthday in 2014 I got Picasso and a few of Saige's outfits, she then became my horse girl and that hasn't shifted since.  As the first doll, Saige is the head of the household, taking care of paperwork, vetting everyone who wants to join the group, and more. She also owns more horses now, a fleabitten stallion named Picasso, a little spicy red headed filly named Apple Pie, a chill liver chestnut gelding named Chocolate Chip, ...

Welcome to Blog By Dolls!

Hi there! I'm Meg (she/they)  I run Blog By Dolls. Blog By Dolls was created in 2017, starting out on a blog much like this one, where I shared photos of my dolls and the stories that went along with them. In January of 2018 I started an instagram under the same name. I grew to love AGIG with my whole heart, but the limited character space in post captions was my number one gripe. I logged out of my first blog when i got IG and didn't log back in until 2022. I unfortunately lost that account shortly after getting back in. So here I am, back where it all began, with a blog. I'll still post to instagram as I love the community I've built there, but I'll finally have a space to share my stories without worrying about fiddling it down to fit a 2,200 character space. So welcome to Blog By Dolls if you're new and welcome back if you're not.
